The Vernon U12 Thunderwolves fell 4-2 to the Westside Wildfire in a heated ringette contest Sunday night.

The Wolves fell behind early and relied on stellar goaltending from Alecia Hughes to stay in the game. Taylor Stewart buried a laser on an excellent feed from Ally Hobenshield to bring the Wolves to within one.

The Wolves found themselves penned in their end by the Wildfire as Hughes was called upon again to come up with multiple big saves.

Madison Edgar relieved the pressure and sent a long pass to Devyn Hildebrand, who found a streaking Emily Gilman, who buried a beauty five hole.

The U12 Vernon Venom suffered their first losses of the season, losing 5-4 and 8-6 to the Salmon Arm U14 Tsunami.

Sydney Lewis, Aimee Skinner, Kristen Francks and Makenna Jackson all scored Saturday at the Shaw Centre with Jackson’s goal tying it up with two mintues left. The Tsunami scored the winner with nine seconds left.

The Venom had a chance at redemption Sunday morning at Kal Tire Place and got a hat trick from Francks.

Jackson supplied a pair and Lewis had a single. Sophia Bilodeau and Teagan Schober both chipped in with assists.
