Delaney Properties Tenacity had to work overtime for the Vernon Women’s Competitive Slo-Pitch League playoff title Wednesday night at Kin Park.

The Tenacity lost 6-3 to the White House Mortgage Gators – their first loss in the double knockout format – before winning the drama-jammed nightcap 17-16.

Brandy Sarrasin went 5-for-5 with four singles and a home run, cashing in four RBI for Tenacity, who also took the regular-season pennant.

Annette Trigg also knocked in four runs, while Lisa Armstrong drove in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh with a one-out sacrifice fly.

The first few innings of the final were even with Tenacity taking control by scoring four runs in the third inning for a 10-6 lead. The Gators answered with two runs in the fourth and four runs in the fifth and sixth to move ahead 16-11. Tenacity responded with four in their half of the sixth.

Elli Lane was 5-for-5 with three ribbies for the Gators, while Iva Weins (who stepped up her game at shortstop filling in for injured Tiffany Disher) was 4-for-5 with two RBI.

The Gators played some outstanding defence to hold the strong hitting Tenacity to only three runs in the opening game. Lane was strong on the mound in both games.
