The Mix made a dynamic debut in the North Okanagan Women’s Soccer Association Division 2 with a 2-0 win over Chickkickers OMG Thursday night at Marshall Field #5.

Char McNaught opened the scoring by placing a great ball to the back of the net off a nice feed from Candy Palmer.  Lauri McTavish scored top-shelf  to complete the offence

After a 20-year hiatus from the world of soccer, Tracy Eddy looked like she never left the pitch.  Speedy newcomer Erin Traxel was tireless up front., while Tammy Palmer had a great run on defence.

Jaycee Barker, Emma Dolman, and Judith Gallardo also made strong debuts for the Mix. Lori Phillip and Velvet Beaumont shared the shutout.

The Capri Insurance Brew Crew shut down Centerline Attack 4-0 at Marshall #1.

Anderson bagged a deuce, while Beham and Hoy added singles.

Centerline gave special props to coach Greg Thalheimer for gifting the team with white hoodies that say ‘Attack’ in purple writing across their chests.

Excellent work came from sweeper/stoppers Julie Kentel and Tessa Derkson to keep Capri from finding more offence. Centreline keeper Azra Cawley saved many slippery shots.

In Okanagan men’s 50+ soccer action, rookie Gary Dill scored once and ran miles as Vernon Kal Tire tripped up Kelowna 3-1 at Mission Sports Field.

Midfielder Denis Chabot, who was Kal Tire’s Tolko Man of the Match, and Kevin Mitchell also scored in support of Pete (The Heat) Richter. Midfielder Jim Sparrow and defender Gordie Campbell also turned in stellar showings.

Ron Golnar beat Richter on a sweet second-half header.

The Vernon Silver Stars drew 2-2 with Lake Country at Marshall Field.

Red-hot John Matejicka and Wolfgang Bopp supplied goals for the Stars.
