Kal Tire walked all over Mission Cleaners 8-3 in Kelowna Tree Brewing Men’s 35+ Soccer League play Thursday night at Mission Sports Fields #13.

It was 4-1 Vernon at the half with Jeff Nice and Chris Ovens getting deuces.

Jesse Knight and Rod Valdivieso each connnected on second-half breakaways and Rodney Goodchild converted on a great header after a feed from Nice.

Dave Fortnight pocketed the final goal when he applied his BX press coming from the backbone to hit a low shot in the corner.

Mission got one early in the half and their third goal came on a penalty when Tyler Johnson was called and yellow carded for a hard tackle in the box.

Kal Tire improved to 6-5, while the Cleaners dropped to 2-9. The Tiremen take on second-place Alves Bros. Thursday at Mission #13.

Alves Bros. bounced Lake Country 4-1 Thursday night, improving to 8-3-1.

Mark Wasylyk recorded two goals as the Silver Stars smothered Summerland Rockets 4-0 in Okanagan 55+ play Thursday night at Reisweg Park in Lake Country.

Bill Borg and Dick Markin posted additonal goals for the 5-4-2 Stars. Al Bensmiller recorded the shutout.

Vernon Kal Tire shaded winless Kelowna Vintage Chef’s Edge 1-0 at MacDonald Park, also going to 5-4-2.

Roger Irving moved up from central fullback for a corner by Terry Lowe, and after the cross went through four sets of legs, Irving buried a shot top cheddar from 12 yards.

Keeper Yogi Kongsdorf made a handful of clutch saves for the shutout. Lowe was the Ernie’s Esso Man of the Match.

The North Country Kickers upended Penticton TC United 4-1, while Westside blasted Winfield 8-2 with Mike Siemens and Steve Cox scoring for Winfield.

Westside leads the league at 11-0.
