Tucker shows saddle savvy

Armstrong’s Lynden Tucker rides down results at the Rocky Mountain Show Jumping Classic last week in Calgary.

The more she rode, the more Armstrong’s Lynden Tucker grew in confidence last week in Calgary.

After a nervous first day, Tucker and her mount, Candy (aka Simply Spotless), a registered appaloosa mare, placed in all of their remaining classes at the at the Rocky Mountain Show Jumping Classic.

Competing in the 3-foot jumper division, the duo collected a pair of seconds and thirds, as well as fourth- and sixth-place finishes to end the competition on a high.

The highlight for the 17-year-old Pleasant Valley secondary student came Sunday in the Grand Prix where she and Candy went clear in their first round, and again in a jump-off to finish fourth out of 30 entries.

The event attracted more than 200 participants and featured five rings, with one each of grass and sand for both hunter and jumper classes.

Tucker is coached by Julia Bostock of Kelowna’s Full Throttle Equestrian and is a member of the Armstrong Pony Club.
