Vernon Turn-Key FC pulled out a 1-0 win over the Revelstoke Stallions in a battle of undefeated North Okanagan Men’s Soccer League teams Wednesday night at Marshall Field #5.

Nathan Tucker capped off a great game in the middle by burying the winner late in the second half off of a goal-mouth scramble. There were several chances to be had as Evan Moore, Preston Tucker and Greg Niemantsverdriet all had opportunities turned away.

Team defence was key for the Control squad with standout games from the halfbacks, Sean Bonnett and Alex Nolan. Jeremy Kler stuffed the stat sheet with his second shutout of the season.

North Enderby Timber brushed off Monashee Surveying 2-1 at Marshall #2.

It was a very competitive game but a Corey Wallis deuce was the difference between the two teams who went scoreless through the first half.

Monashee forwards pressed hard with Cameron Clary clipping the post near the end of the first half. Peter Solymosi made some great saves through out for the surveyors.

NET opening the offence 25 minutes into the second half when Andrew Stein controlled the ball on the left sideline, deked around a midfielder and drove a laser cross to a screaming Corey Wallis at the back post. The ball cleared several defenders and Wallis headed it home from eight yards out.

Wallis beat Solymosi with a one timer to the near post for his second goal. Boston Pizza Man of the Match Dexter James carried the ball deep up the right wing and fed Wallis streaking to the near post.

Just five minutes later, Wallis received his second yellow card of the match for dissent and was sent off. NET played with 10 men for the last 20 minutes

Michael Arding outran his mark and tapped it in for Monashee’s goal on a play started by Rodney Goodchild, imposing himself in the midfield.

Vernon Camels F.C. used a huge first half to bounce host Salmon Arm Outlaws 6-1 Wednesday night.

The Man of the Match Ben Osborn capitalized twice on centering crosses in the first half, followed by midfielder Fabrice Fanfani showing flashes of brilliance with a left-footed strike to widen the gap to 3-0. Before halftime, Nick Pantaleo converted with a volley on yet another centering cross.

The Outlaws tightened up on the defensive end in the second half, conceding only two goals to the Camels’ Nathan Whitling and defender Jeremy Phelan, on a rebound from a free kick. With 15 minutes remaining, Salmon Arm spoiled the Camels shutout by converting on a penalty kick.

On Marshall Field #3, Concept Physio stormed out to a three-goal lead on goals by Enzo Paal, Fabrice N’Dair and Brock Reim, but had to settle for a 3-3 draw against Davidson & Co. Dynamite.

In the second half, Paal and N’Dair generated plenty of quality scoring chances for Concept, but Nitros’ keeper Ian Ross made some equally good saves.

Davidson capitalized with two quick goals to bring the game to within one. The physio crew then squandered a few more chances and the Dynamite fired a late equalizer to salvage a point.
