Turnbull's taters terrific for Stingers

Owen Turnbull belted a pair of inside the park home runs, and Kyle Wheeler sped around the bases for the another, to lift the Hi Pro Sportswear Stingers to a 17-7 win over the Cloverdale Paint Black Panthers in Mosquito division baseball action Monday night at Lakeview Park.

Ryan Cox (4-for-4) and Brandon Fisher (3-for-3 with a walk) were perfect at the plate for the Stingers with  Fisher scoring four runs.

Stingers pitchers Cox, Turnbull, Hunter Johnstone, Wheeler and Austin Seibel held the Panthers to just three hits with Johnstone and Seibel pitching shutout innings and Wheeler striking out three batters.

Reece Holmes was 1-for-2 with a double and walk for the Black Panthers while Lucas McCool was 1-for-1.

The Panthers got good pitching from Ben Thompson, Luke Walsh, who struck out one, and Oakley Kemper who struck out two batters on a scorching night.
