Vernon Viper defenceman Michael Ufberg has been named to the B.C. Hockey League’s All-Rookie Team.
Ufberg, a 19-year-old out of Philadelphia, compiled seven goals and 37 points in his first year with the Snakes. The Princeton Tiger commit rang up five goals and 15 assists while quarterbacking the Viper powerplay.
The smooth, puck-handling Ufberg has one goal and seven points through nine playoff games. The Vipers visit the Penticton Vees in Game 5 of the Interior Division final series Friday night. Penticton forward Grant Cruikshank, of Wisconsin, also made the Rookie squad.
The league’s play-by-play broadcasters were surveyed to rate their top forwards, defencemen, goaltenders and asked to do the same for rookies. It was a weighted voted with players receiving points in the tally based on the order they were ranked by each broadcaster.
