Hillview’s Keith Vandenbrink carded a 1-under 71 Monday to share seventh spot in the CNIB Pro-Am Tournament at the Kelowna Golf & Country Club.
Rob Anderson of Kelowna and Dean Claggett of Two Eagles Academy in West Kelowna, tied for first with 67s.
Vandenbrink pocketed $420 while recording two deuces and finishing with five birdies. His pro-am team, including Brian, Bea and Jarrett Yamoaka, was fifth and won Titleist wedges.
As a part of the evening festivities, there was a 174-yard KP shot from the clubhouse to a green across the pond. Vandenbrink was last to shoot in the pro division and won a $100 for a 7-iron shot to about six feet.
Meanwhile, Jeff Vest and his eight-year-old son Ryan shot 5-under 67 played in a Parent/Child Scramble at the U.S. Kids World Championships in Pinehurst, N.C.
Ryan tees off Thursday in the world tournament at 8:42 a.m. with his dad caddying.
Vest will head back to the U.S. for the Seaview Open Aug. 30-31, at Seaview Golf Resort in Galloway, N.J.
Meanwhile, Jim Ryan of Spallumcheen finished at 74-77-78-229 for a four-way share of 45th place in the B.C. Senior Men’s Golf Championships which ended Friday at Christina Lake.
