Vernon Buy-Low Vixens rule the Queens tournament

Vernon Buy-Low Vixens go undefeated to claim the Queens on Ice Ladies Hockey Tournament title in Merritt.

The Vernon Buy-Low Vixens went undefeated and claimed the Queens on Ice Ladies Hockey Tournament title in Merritt, grounding the Kamloops Jets 7-0 in the final.

Speedster Edeen Ramsey, with two goals, was player of the game for the Vixens. Kelsey Kirkham also scored twice, while Morgan Zoethout, Diana Huntley, Christine Bosworth and Cheryl Meier added helpers.

Coralee Hamilton was a solid, physical force up front. The Vixens outscored their opponents 21-1 in round-robin play, beating the Kamloops Eagles 10-0, the Merritt Hurricanes 5-1 and the Lilloett Prowlers 6-0.

The Vixens received stellar goaltending from Michelle Embleton and solid defence from Cassie Bosworth, Sabre Cherkowski, and Jodi Tung.

Matt Schneider supplied 2+3 and Terry Lowe counted 2+2 as the M&K ready-Mix Bruins bounced the BBC Blackhawks 8-7 in a Vernon Hockey League shootout Wednesday night at Priest Valley Arena.

D-man Dave Schneider, the 10th shooter, provided the winner past Jason Webster. Tyler Galenzoski, with 1+2, Chris Church and Jeff Scott pocketed singles for M&K. Teagan Blair bagged 2+3 and Mike Mason earned 2+2 for the Hawks. Sean Gracey (2) and Corey Webb rounded out the offence.

The Massie brothers, Logan (4+2) and Corey (3+2), led the Kalavida Flyers to an 11-7 win over the RE Postill & Sons Tuesday at Civic Arena.

Richard Hoglund added 1+5 for the Flyers, while Paul Saunders and Rick Galvagno each earned 1+2 Manish Bhatt pocketed four helpers.

Bryce Kakoske pulled the hat trick for the Orphans, while Leath Gare recorded 1+3. Rob Bauml had 1+2, while Brad Sindlinger and Jamie Johansson also scored.

Jason Elders provided 2+3 as the Teale Utility Canucks toppled the Re/Max Rangers 6-4 Tuesday at Wesbild Centre. Richard Jodoin, with 2+1, Mike Jodoin and Scott Kowalski replied for the Rangers.
