An impressive season continued for the UBC Thunderbirds football team, who dispatched the StFX X-Men in the Mitchell Bowl, 47-17, to punch their ticket to the Vanier Cup.

The T-Birds have two players from Vernon, Brad Hladik and Braden Khunkhun on the roster.

Hladik is a dual threat linebacker and tight end. He was responsible for one tackle in the Mitchell Bowl game. This season, he has six tackles in 10 games, while also catching one pass for a touchdown. His brother, Ben, plays for the BC Lions.

Defensive back Khunkhun, meanwhile, is a redshirt for this season. He played for Vernon Secondary School last year.

The 58th Vanier Cup will take place on Saturday, Nov. 25 from Kingston, Ont’s Richardson Memorial Stadium. UBC will be looking to win their fifth championship. They will be taking on the Montreal Carabins, who dominated the Western Mustangs, 29-3 to win the Uteck Bowl.
