The Vernon McDonald’s Magnums slammed the Kelowna Sundevils 38-0 in Okanagan Atom Football Conference play Sunday in West Kelowna.
Offensive linemen Morgan Hackman, Lochlen Kilford, Seth Holte, Grady Krause and Nate Yablonski opened up holes and continually pushed the Sundevils backwards to set up five first-half scores.
Carston Disher ran for 125 yards and two TDs, Gunnar Nyberg had a 25-yard TD run and Brady Devries had an interception along with 105 yards rushing and a TD. Dillan Rinkel added a 50-yard TD run in the fourth quarter.
The Magnums were also strong defensively, led by Nyberg’s five tackles and three sacks. Brayden Kuhn Kuhn had three tackles and three sacks, Hudson Kibblewhite had three tackles, one sack and a fumble recovery, and Dominick Kitzman had three tackles and a fumble recovery.
The Magnums wrap up the regular season by hosting the Sundevils Sunday, 11 a.m., at Grahame Park.
Meanwhile, the Vernon Peter’s Tirecraft Magnums racked up a 21-point first quarter en route to a 34-7 pounding of the West Kelowna Red Blacks in Pee Wee play Thursday in Kelowna.
Supplying early touchdowns for Vernon were Ethan Mitchell, Jaret Cooper and Liam Gombrich. Cody Wessels added a great receiving TD in the second quarter.
William Satterwaite and Taber Mclean scored extra points running the ball for Vernon. Centre Wylan Gettis had a great game blocking.
The defence was a superb team effort, with Thomas Neid Blenkin, Colin Charlton, Nathan Glessing, Rasheed Hashi, Michael Swanson and Joey Mazzei all turning in solid efforts.
