It was a golden afternoon Tuesday for the Vernon Christian Royals senior boys soccer team.

After defeating King’s Christian of Salmon Arm 8-1 the previous week, the Royals only needed a draw to collect the North Okanagan Zone senior A boys championship.

The rematch Tuesday ended up being a much closer battle, with the teams playing to a 3-3 draw.

Striker Sam Frisby supplied a pair of goals for the Royals, while Mika deVin added a single.

The Royals, coached by Branden Hoogendoorn, advance to the Okanagan Valley Championships, Oct. 23-24, in Kelowna.
