At their first home meet of the year, the Vernon Kokanee Swim Club (VKSC) raced away with 265 best times in a team of 56 capable swimmers.
The meet was hosted over the Nov. 3-5 weekend from the Vernon Recreation Centre which included five other Okanagan-based teams.
The VKSC had 13 swimmer achieve personal best times over the three day meet: Jackson Burrows, Rowan Brett, Ryley Earnshaw, Avalon Ellis, Anders Erikson, Davis Gordon, Aurora Hamilton, Ruslan Knutsen, Noah Mulligan, Emily Reinboldt, Victoria Reynolds, Cadel Simms, and Sarah Whibley.
Alex Puchkov grabbed seven golds and four silvers in the meet, while Emily Adam took home six golds. Angel Loseth won five golds and three silvers while Max Helm took four golds.
New divisional qualifying times came from Teo Bos (50 m breaststroke), Robbie Duke (50 m backstroke), Eden Ellis (200 m backstroke), Erikson (50 m and 200 m backstroke), Jed Hubbard (50 m backstroke), Hera Serzane (100 m backstroke), Johnny Kroes (800 m freestyle and 100 m fly), Cadel Simms (50 + 100 m backstroke, 200 m freestyle and 200 m individual medley), Mariia Kuzmenko (200 m individual medley), Rylan McGowan (100 m freestyle, 100 m backstroke, 100 m breaststroke), Norah McIntyre (800 m freestyle, 200 m breaststroke), Puchkov (800 m freestyle), Kubrick Reed (800 m freestyle), Julia Russell (50 m breaststroke), Kilian Russell (50 m breaststroke), Kaeden Uesson (100 m freestyle), smf Sarah Whibley (50 + 100 m breaststroke).
McIntyre also achieved a provincial qualifying time with her 34.71 in the 50 m breaststroke.
Outside smoke swims, where the swimmer won from being in a far lane, were won by Ryley Earnshaw in the 50 m backstroke with a six second drop and Eden Ellis in the 200 m freestyle with a 24 second drop.
The VKSC also hosted a Jamboree swim meet for newer swimmers. The Kokanees had 28 swimmers in the Jamboree who recorded 92 new best times. Korbin Wade achieved his sub 4 minute 200IM time with a 3:58.18 split. That means that Wade will get the chance to compete in the competitive meets next time.
The Kelowna AquaJets will host the next meet for Okanagan clubs, the fall invitational, from Nov. 17-19.
