The fierce, historic rivalry between the Vernon Iron Ghost Construction Tigers and the Armstrong Shamrocks gets renewed tonight, Wednesday, May 18, at Kal Tire Place.
The two rivals meet for the second of four games against one another in the Thompson Okanagan Junior Lacrosse League. Game time is 7 p.m.
The teams played to a 9-9 tie in their season opener.
Since then, the Shamrocks have lost four in a row, including an 18-2 pasting at home from the expansion Kelowna Kodiaks Sunday, May 15, at the Nor-Val Sports Centre.
The Tigers began the year 2-0-1 but have dropped their last two contests, both against the Kamloops Venom, including a 13-7 loss in the club’s home opener Saturday, May 14.
The Kodiaks lead the five-team league at 4-1, two points ahead of the 3-1 Venom. The defending champion South Okanagan Flames sit fourth, one point behind Vernon, with a record of 2-3.
The Flames host the Kodiaks Wednesday, May 18, 7 p.m., at the Penticton Memorial Arena.
