The Vernon Vipers' wayward season continued as they dropped another overtime contest, to the Sherwood Park Crusaders on Saturday night.
In a game dominated by power plays, the Crusaders won 4-3 in the extra frame, the Vipers' fourth overtime loss this season.
Both teams scored in the first, with the Vipers' Will Schumacher's goal one of five on the man advantage.
Christian Chouha tied the game late in the first, and after a scoreless second, four goals were scored in the third, all on the man advantage.
Kale Dach and Chouha would strike to put the visitors up 3-1. However, after two quick penalties from the Crusaders, the Vipers Marko Stojkov and Charlie Kresl would respond to knot the game up at 3.
In the extra frame, Kale Dach would be the hero, scoring his sixth of the season as the Crusaders won their 10th of the season, 4-3.
Colin Reay took the loss for the Vipers, his fifth, after making 29 stops. Logan Kennedy grabbed his second win of the year after making 34 saves.
Aftter the Crusaders loss, their fourth in the past five games, The Vipers are now 5-9-4, second-last in the Interior East standings. They will welcome the Okotoks Oilers into town next, on Friday, Nov. 18 Puck drop is tabbed for 7 p.m.
