Landon Currie will be playing a key role in helping Team Canada repeat at the Senior Pan American Volleyball Cup.

The Vernon native was named to the 14-player roster for the competition July 14-21 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Canada is 3-0 already in the tournament, defeating Puerto Rico (3-0), USA (3-2) and Mexico (3-0).

Puerto Rico is next, on Thursday, July 18, before the playoff rounds begin on Friday.

Last year, Canada won the title for the first time in the Pan American Cup history after defeating Brazil.

Currie is a libero, having played his post-secondary career with Thompson Rivers and the University of Alberta.

The graduate of Clarence Fulton won a U Sports national championship with the Bears in 2022.

The senior Pan Am Cup is part of the qualification process for the 2025 Continental Championship, the next edition of the Pan American in 2025, and the 2027 Pan Am Games.

Previously, Canada has been the runner-up three times (2008, 2009, 2022).
