Shanda Hill, the dynamite ultra athlete who has broken numerous ultra race records, has a new challenge in sight.

The Vernon native will be competing at the Bretzal Ultra Tri World Championships in Colmar, France. Beginning on Sunday, June 23, Hill will test her mettle against 35 other athletes as she attempts to finish five Iron-distance triathlons consecutively.

The race, which must be completed in a week, comprises of a 19-kilometre swim, 900-km bike ride and 211-km run.

Hill's participation at the France competition follows an extraordinary year of remarkable achievements.

She is now one of only three individuals worldwide who have completed two Double Deca races. With the successful completion of her last Double Deca in Mexico, Hill has become the only person on Earth to finish three Double Deca Ultra Triathlons.

Over the past seven years, Hill has completed the equivalent of 100 long-distance triathlon race, and holds the female world record for most long-distance triathlons completed in a calender year. Her accomplishments have earned her a spot in the International Ultra Triathlon Association Hall of Fame.
