Spallumcheen golf pro Myles Johnston shot a second consecutive 4-over 76 to finish in a tie for 33rd at the 2014 Titleist/Footjoy PGA of B.C. golf championship at Vancouver’s Point Grey Golf and Country Club.

Johnston’s 36-hole total of 8-over 152 left him 12 shots back of the winner, Gordy Scutt from Victoria’s Olympic View Golf Course. Scutt won the championship by sinking a 12-foot birdie putt on the first playoff hole to beat Lindsay Bernakevitch of the Victoria Golf Club.

Both golfers finished at 2-under 140, one shot ahead of Bryn Parry and Oliver Tubb, both from North Vancouver’s Seymour Creek Golf Course.

Bernakevitch shot the low round of the final day, a 5-under 67. Scutt secured his spot in the playoff with a 3-under 69.

First round leader Kevin Maxwell of Olympic View struggled to a 3-over 75 and finished five shots behind his fellow Victoria golfers.

Top Okanagan finisher was Dean Claggett of West Kelowna’s Two Eagles Golf Course at 4-over 148, good for 11th spot.
