The Vernon Vortex Speed Skating Club held their own against more experienced athletes and achieved an impressive number of personal best results in Port Coquitlam last weekend.
Nate Benn and Daniel Hall outperformed their competition and simply skated away from the pack using superior horsepower in their longer distances.
Jared and Lauryn Eddy showed tremendous grit in their races, overcoming some inopportune circumstances to record a set of great results while gaining invaluable racing experience.
Laura Hall also gained racing experience, competing against more seasoned athletes and obtaining some personal bests.
Said head coach Mike Hall: “This competition was a challenge for the Vortex club and the skaters rose to meet it, representing the club and the community well. The hard work being applied in practice is starting to pay dividends for the team with the best yet to come.”
