The Vernon Vipers gave up a late goal in regulation and ended up falling 3-2 in overtime to the host Salmon Arm SilverBacks Friday night at the Shaw Centre.

Vernon lost a key defensive faceoff, which led to first star defenceman Shane Hanna’s fourth goal of the season, and second of the night, after a scramble in front of netminder Austin Smith. It was their third OT loss in just 10 B.C. Hockey League games.

Veteran forwards Colton Sparrow and Aaron Hadley handled Vernon’s scoring in front of netminder Austin Smith (28 saves). Hanna, with a pair, and Jason Trott, with the winner in double-OT supplied Salmon Arm’s offence.

SilverBack keeper Adam Clark recorded 31 saves for the win.

Vernon visited the Chilliwack Chiefs Saturday night.
