Adam Tambellini fires win as Vernon Vipers outlast Trail Smoke Eaters.

Adam Tambellini recorded the winner with less than two minutes to play as the Vernon Vipers outlasted the Trail Smoke Eaters 5-3 in B.C. Hockey League action Friday night at Wesbild Centre.

Viper captain Patrick McGillis capped a two-goal night with an empty-netter from just over centre ice to put Trail away for good.

Tambellini assisted on a pair of Mike Zalewski goals to complete the Vernon scoring.

Brandon Long, converting on a breakaway, Connor Teichko, burying a gimme after a turnover in front of the Viper net, and Brent Baltus, finding the net on powerplay late in the third period, answered for the Smokies.

The Vipers, now 19-18-1-2, visit the Westside Warriors (14-20-1-5) Saturday night at Royal LePage Place.
