Vipers hire Shaw as assistant

The Vernon Vipers have hired former Nelson Leafs' head coach/GM Chris Shaw as their new assistant coach.

The Vernon Vipers have signed Chris Shaw as their new assistant coach for the coming B.C. Hockey League season.

Former assistant Jason Williamson stepped up to take over head coaching and general manager duties with the Snakes after Mark Ferner departed last week for the WHL Everett Silvertips.

Shaw and Williamson, both 30, played against one another in the BCHL, and were recruited as 20-year-olds to the NCAA Division 1 Niagara Purple Eagles.

Shaw is the former head coach/GM of the KIJHL Nelson Leafs. He has previous coaching experience also with the Alberni Valley Bulldogs, KIJHL Penticton Lakers and the Okanagan Hockey Academy.
