Vipers winless at BCHL Showcase

Vernon Vipers collect one point in OT loss to Penticton Vees at B.C. Hockey League's inaugural Showcase event in Chilliwack.

The Vernon Vipers salvaged one point in two games at the B.C. Hockey League’s inaugural Showcase event last weekend in Chilliwack.

The Snakes opened with a 3-2 overtime loss to the defending Fred Page champion Penticton Vees Saturday night, followed by a 4-3 loss to the Powell River Kings Sunday morning.

Rookie Craig Martin and second-year pivot Adam Tambellini handled Vernon’s scoring against the Vees, while Aaron Hadley, Tambellini and Mitch Van Teeling, acquired last week in a deal with the Virden Oil Capitals of Manitoba, tallied against the Kings.

Vernon resumes regular-season action this weekend with a home-and-home set against the Salmon Arm SilverBacks, starting Friday night at the Shaw Centre. The ‘Backs visit the Vipers Saturday night (7:00) at Wesbild Centre.
