Vernon Viper forward Dylan Walchuk has left to team to play with the WHL Spokane Chiefs.

The Vernon Vipers have lost the services of forward Dylan Walchuk to the Spokane Chiefs of the Western Hockey League.

Walchuk had recently rejoined the Vipers after starting the year with the NCAA Division 1 Northern Michigan University Wildcats. In six games with Vernon, the product of McBride, B.C. tallied one goal and five assists. The 5-foot-9, 180-pounder led the Snakes last season with 24-32-56 in 55 games.

According to a Vipers’ press release, academics are said to have been a factor in his decision to pursue the WHL route.
