Rockhounds will, well, rock the North Okanagan at its provincial gathering on the May long weekend.
The BC Lapidary Society and Vernon Lapidary and Mineral Club are excited to be hosting the 2024 Rendezvous.
The event will run May 17-20 at Armstrong’s Interior Provincial Exhibition’s horticulture building on the fairgrounds.
“This gathering welcomes all members of B.C. lapidary clubs to come together to share their passion for all things ‘rock,’” said Carol Hill-Lonergan, spokesperson for the Vernon club and event. “With 29 member groups in B.C., we expect there will be a lot of rockhounders attending this event.”
There will be showcases, vendors, demonstrations of wire wrapping, fluorescent rocks and jade carving by Deborah Wilson. For the registered attendees, there will be field trips, shared meals, an AGM, and more.
The venue will be open to the public, by donation, on Saturday, May 18, from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m, and Sunday, May 19, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Should you get bitten by the rockhounding bug, you can even register, on site, to join the local Vernon club.
