RCMP confirm fatality on Highway 97 Falkland vehicle crash

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP has confirmed that a 66-year old Kamloops man has died, following a crash between a pickup truck and motorcycle near Falkland.

According to RCMP, around 10 a.m. on Sunday, May 5, officers responded to the collision in the 6500 block of Highway 97 (10 kilometres west of Falkland). The motorcyclist was travelling southbound on the highway when it rear-ended a pickup truck that was stopped waiting to make a turn off the highway.

“Sadly, despite the best efforts of bystanders and medical personnel, the motorcycle rider was pronounced deceased,” RCMP stated in a release.

Highway 97 was closed to traffic for six hours to allow responders to safely complete their investigation.
