A full day of fun is going to the dogs Monday.

A Fur Baby Fundraiser gets underway at the Elk’s Hall March 25 with an eight-hour marathon concert from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Musician Tanya Lipscomb, also known as Kiki the Eco Elf, is hosting the event to raise funds for her dog needing an amputation.

“This is the slow season for my business, so I thought I would put on an epic fundrais`er not just for my wee fur baby, but to help other fur babies and families who perhaps can not work to earn the extra expense of pet emergencies,” said Lipscomb.

“My dog Teddy has cancer in his foot and part of it needs to be amputated. He’s a sweet little papillon pomeranian with a zest for life and a heart of gold.”

All the proceeds above the costs for Teddy and the hall rental will go to the Okanagan Humane Society and Paws It Forward.

Teddy has been Lipscomb’s rock, even now amidst a scary time as her dad is dying.

“I simply couldn’t handle losing both of them at the same time. My dog is my world right now.”

Daycares have been invited to the fundraiser as it is spring break and Lipscomb hopes downtown workers will stop in for their lunch break.

This eight hour epic concert will include two one-hour performances by Kiki the Eco Elf at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., as well as a few special guests including local celebrities Judy Rose and Melina Schein “to give me bathroom breaks and a quick bite to eat.”

The event is by-donation and includes a collection of Lipscomb’s original songs, most from the 14 albums she has released, as well as lots of new material that has not yet been recorded and released.

There will be a silent auction, a dog parade at 11 a.m. after Kiki wraps up her first set as well as a happy hour from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Elk’s bar.
