Some support is needed to serve a hearty Thanksgiving meal to those living rough.
Tracey Griffin and Jimmy Miller volunteer their time every Monday evening to prepare and serve dinner to people living on the streets.
Through their non-profit called Packman Opens Hearts in Vernon, they set up behind People Place weekly at 6 p.m.
They are hoping to cook up a full Thanksgiving dinner with all the fixings again this year.
“Thanksgiving is right around the corner and we are very short on donations,” said Griffin. “We will be serving approximately 60 meals and really need some help.”
Food needed includes: turkeys, ham, stuffing, canned cranberries, veggies of any kind, gravy mixes, mashed potatoes, dinner rolls, margarine, hot chocolate mix (just add water type) and desserts.
Griffin suggests pumpkin pie and whipped cream “or whatever baking anyone would like to do.”
If anyone would like to donate but does not want to brave the stores, feel free to etransfer to packmanopenshearts@gmail.com
“Our big holiday meals are always fantastic with all your help,” said Griffin.
