Corinne Burns hopes people will sign up for Homemade Happiness’ Pay It Forward initiative

Pay it forward through an appetite and help someone in need.

That’s the premise for Homemade Happiness’ Pay It Forward initiative.

“This will help anyone who needs a hand up,” said Corinne Burns, senior executive assistant for Lambeth Scott Retirement Solutions, creators of the initiative.

“Seniors, new moms, those going through troubled times, busy people and even yourself.”

Since 2000, Homemade Happiness has been delivering delicious home-cooked meals to people in Vernon.

For $50, Homemade Happiness will send three delicious home-cooked meals plus a large container of homemade soup and homemade cookies to anyone you choose.

This includes free delivery.

For $100, Homemade Happiness will provide two large homemade soups, seven delicious meals and a dozen homemade cookies.

A portion of the proceeds from each donation will be donated to Nexus BC who, in turn, will pay it forward by providing volunteers to help in the community.

Examples of meals are turkey dinner with all the trimmings; roast beef dinners with potatoes and gravy and a pasta dinner. All packages include a large homemade soup and fresh cookies.

All of the meals are made at the Victorian Retirement Residence in Vernon, and are made from scratch with the best ingredients available.

“We are very proud of our meals,” said Burns. “We also provide a weekly meal delivery service for anyone who needs meals on a regular basis and we are an approved supplier for Veterans Affairs.”

If you would like to participate in this amazing opportunity to give back to the community, and do not have someone specific in mind to send meals to, Burns has a list of  people who would enjoy receiving delicious meals.

“If anyone in the community wants to add a name to our list they can provide us the information thru our website, www.homemadehappinessokanagan.com,” she said. “Your gift can be sent from you or if you would like it can also be sent anonymously.”

The meals, by the way, are not just for seniors.

“The meals can go to anyone you choose or someone on our list of people who would appreciate a great meal,” said Burns.

“Meals can go to a struggling co-worker, a stressed-out parent, someone who is moving, who is ill, a neighbour who needs a hand, a bachelor or student, your parents, seniors, yourself or others.”

Meals can be ordered online at homemadehappinessokanagan.com or by calling Burns at 250-540-0936.
