High-end sports vehicles will be racing around a world-class venue in Oliver this summer, all in support of helping children across the Okanagan and Similkameen.

Area 27 is teaming up with the Penticton-based OSNS Legacy Foundation for the second “Cars for a Cause” event on July 20.

The event gives people a chance to be co-pilots inside some of the world’s fastest cars, with Area 27 members donating their time and luxury cars to provide an experience for those seeking a thrill.

The inaugural edition of the event in 2019 raised more than $100,000 for the OSNS Child and Youth Development Centre, a place that specializes in the treatment of developmental challenges.

Ticketed spots include time to pick out a car and the certified meet the driver, before taking to the track.

For those at the event hoping to get behind the wheel themselves, the Kartplex go-carting track at Area 27 will be open in support of the fundraiser.

“Stay for lunch at Area 27’s in-house restaurant with food served up by Crave Creative Kitchen and hear from the OSNS Legacy Foundation to learn more about how this event will impact children with developmental delays in the South Okanagan Similkameen,” the centre writes in an announcement.

“When you’re not on track or grabbing a bite, take a stroll among several cars that will be on display in the Show’n’Shine area.”

The event hosted by the track — designed by Canadian F1 legend Jacques Villeneuve — kicks off at 11 a.m.

The centre says that registration details will be announced later this month on the Area 27 and OSNS Legacy Foundation Instagram and Facebook accounts.
