London Drugs received over 300 Stockings for Seniors donations

“They were so incredibly thankful as many of these seniors have no family at all.”

Vernon’s London drugs wrapped up its Stocking Stuffers for Seniors fundraiser last week.

The Canadian retailer will help approximately 15,000 lonely, isolated, low-income or homeless seniors over the holiday season in partnership with more than 90 care homes or senior organizations throughout Western Canada. Locally, eight care homes and the Salvation Army are partnered with the Vernon store to ensure a bright holiday season for the local elderly.

“Our community of Vernon is amazing,” said Michele Materi-Baker, Sales Supervisor of London Drugs. “We did 302 bags total. Last year we did 200 total.”

Bags were then distributed: 227 to the Salvation Army and 75 to eight different care homes.

“It was very heartwarming to talk to the caregivers at the facilities and a few of the seniors,” said Materi-Baker. “They were so incredibly thankful as many of these seniors have no family at all.”
