The Lumby Christmas Light Up Sunday in Arbor Park will include Santa Claus and a new parade.

Lumby is lighting the way for the holidays with some new and old traditions Sunday.

“The Lumby Christmas Light Up is a celebration to kick off the holiday season,” said Stephanie Sexsmith, Lumby and  District Chamber of Commerce executive director.

“Businesses will be participating in a new Light Up Parade and encourage everyone to come down to enjoy.”

Christmas carols will fill the frosty air as festivities begin at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Arbor Park gazebo with wagon rides as well as free hot dogs and hot chocolate from Super-A-Foods.

The streets will then shine with the new Light Up Parade at 4:30 p.m.

Kids big and small can then welcome Santa Claus to town at 4:45 p.m.

After visiting with jolly ol’ St. Nick, enjoy a free skate at Pat Duke Arena from 5:45 to 7 p.m.

While all the festivities are free, those attending are urged to bring a non-perishable food item for the food bank to either the park or the arena.

“It's a small town celebration that brings community together supported by local business and encourages shopping local through the season,” said Sexsmith.
