Patient Voice requires volunteers

Ten to 14 volunteers needed to share experiences they’ve had with the health care system

The Patient Voices Network is in search of volunteers in Vernon.

The Interior Health residential care framework redesign advisory committee is looking for 10 to 14 volunteers to share experiences they’ve had with the health care system in order to provide feedback to the institution.

“It’s through a patient lens,” said Carol Stathers, PVN Okanagan engagement leader.

The volunteers may also help with putting together patient educational pamphlets.

The Interior Health complaint process focus group is also looking for aboriginal volunteers to hear the aboriginal patient perspective on the current complaint process within IH.

This information will be taken into consideration as efforts are made to develop and trial a new culturally appropriate complaint process.

PVN was created in 2009 by the Ministry of Health, and has worked extensively with Interior Health, along with the other health regions, educational institutions and non-profit organizations.

They are also searching for practice patient volunteers to help the nursing students at the University of B.C. Okanagan.
