The future of engineering in many different aspects was on display at the KF Centre for Excellence on Friday.
In the north wing of the building on Apr. 12, the nearly 300 graduating students from UBCO’s School of Engineering got the chance to impress their professors, judges and the public as they presented their final projects.
Known as the Capstone showcase, students were put in 48 groups. Each group of given one of the following categories: advanced manufacturing, biocompatible systems, complex systems, infrastructure and sustainability.
Some of the projects ranged from greenhouse classrooms to stress monitoring and mitigation for first responders, to a micro apartment design with adaptable furniture and Pickasaurus: a remote-controlled fruit picker.
Each project will be judged and a winner will be selected from each category.
