Pirate Pak Day helps kids

The seventh annual White Spot Pirate Pak Day takes place Aug. 10

A popular pirate day is returning to help children.

The seventh annual White Spot Pirate Pak Day takes place Aug. 10 across 61 B.C. and Alberta locations, including Vernon.

Due to the overwhelming response, Pirate Pak Day has become an annual celebration where adults can be a kid again and order their very own adult Pirate Pak.

To date, White Spot has raised more than $450,000 for the Zajac Ranch for Children and sent more than 300 kids to camp.

On Pirate Pak Day, $2 from the sale of each Pirate Pak and select entrees will be donated to Zajac Ranch for Children, a charity based in Mission which is dedicated to giving children and young adults with life-threatening illnesses and chronic disabilities an unforgettable summer camp experience.

White Spot will be sending kids to Zajac Ranch for White Spot Week from Aug. 15 to 19.

The kids will participate in a variety of activities such as horseback riding, kayaking, water sports and arts and crafts.

“It’s an opportunity that wouldn’t be otherwise possible,” states a release.

The Adult Pirate Pak offers five burger options; the legendary burger, the Mediterranean chicken burger, the bacon cheddar burger, the sriracha portobello veggie burger and the sriracha goat cheese turkey burger.

Each choice is served in a cardboard boat, and comes complete with fresh-cut fries, coleslaw, a soft drink, a scoop of ice cream and a chocolate “gold” coin.
