The Lumby-Mabel Lake Snowmobile Association earned an excellence award.

The Lumby-Mabel Lake Snowmobile Association has won the British Columbia Snowmobile Federation Excellence Award for Outstanding Snowmobile Club 2015-2016.

The announcement was made at the BCSF spring annual general meeting in Pemberton.

The club was nominated and beat out the other 72 clubs in the province.

The honour goes to an outstanding snowmobile club for the development and implementation of a program, original initiative or event that has contributed to increasing the image and exposure of snowmobiling and the growth of the sport in British Columbia.

The club now moves to the federal level with the chance to win Outstanding Snowmobile Club of Canada at the Canadian Council of Snowmobile Organization’s meeting in March. 2017

The Lumby-Mabel Lake Club has officially been around since October 2000.

Servicing the area of Park and Nelson Mountains, the club maintains  more than 75 kilometres of groomed trails which lead to endless areas of backcountry terrain for all levels of snowmobile riders.

“The last five years has seen the club go through some major changes with a total overhaul on the interior of the emergency chalet and replacement of a new roof,” said spokesperson Jen Luszcz. “This February saw us reach our biggest goal, the purchase of a “newer” 2000 BR400 groomer.”

The club’s board of directors, all of which are volunteers, have spent numerous hours planning, fundraising and promoting for the club.

“None of this would be possible without the tireless efforts of our volunteers and of course our members,” said Luszcz.

The club is always working towards promoting snowmobiling in a fun but safe way.
