If you are faster than a speeding bullet and able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, head to Cherryville.

Superheroes and Villains is the theme of the 54th annual Cherryville Day from Friday to Sunday.

“Dust off your cape and pull out your mask,” said Jenn Baumbick, one of the organizers.

Cherryville Days will kick off Friday with a Blues and Barbecue night at the Cherryville Golf and Roadhouse Café.  Local musicians will start playing at 6 p.m., followed by the Brother Ray Lemellin Band at 8:30 p.m. The evening will include live and silent auctions and there is a $10 cover charge.

Saturday will come to life with the parade, a colourful Cherryville tradition.

“The parade leaves from the Cherryville Emporium at noon and heads down North Fork Road to meet up with all the fun going on in Hanson Park,” said organizer Lyndsay Myers.

In the park will be a youth art exhibition, auto show, pet show, kids zone, teen bushwacker paintball and outhouse races.

“Visitors will also enjoy a variety of food vendors, an arts and crafts market, beer garden, fun and games and more, including a DJ and live music on the main stage,” said Myers.

An adult Saturday dance will be held at the Cherryville Community Hall featuring, the Goods. Tickets are $15 and must be purchased in advance at Frank’s General Store, the Cherryville Emporium and Lumby’s Snac Shac.

A pancake breakfast will be held at the Cherryville Community Hall both Saturday and Sunday morning.

“Cherryville Days is an important annual fundraiser for the Cherryville Community Club, which manages and maintains the community hall and Hanson Park,” said Baumbick.
