Legendary Canadian rock band Honeymoon Suite will take the main stage in Vernon in May 2024.
Honeymoon Suite will play its treasure trove of hits at the Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre Wednesday, May 15.
“It’s going to be fantastic to hear soulful original lead singer Johnnie Dee singing all of their popular hits,” said promoter Norm Richard.
Dee, lead vocalist and guitarist, originally formed the band in 1981. Their song New Girl Now won them an unsigned band contest put on by a Toronto radio station, leading to the band’s self-titled album released in 1984, which produced four chart-topping hits in Canada: New Girl Now, Wave Babies, Burning in Love and Stay in the Light.
Honeymoon Suite toured in support of the album that same year, opening for another iconic Canadian group, April Wine. Dee took to social media this week to express sympathy upon the death of April Wine founder, Myles Goodwyn.
“Over the years, we have played with them countless times. Myles was the driving force behind the band not only as frontman, but the main songwriter with a string of hits lasting 40 years,” said Dee. “We owe a lot to Myles and April Wine, who paved the way for bands like Honeymoon Suite to have had such long and successful careers.”
Added Richard: “Myles’ soulful voice and great songs will be heard for eternity.”
Honeymoon Suite’s second album, The Big Prize, produced another quartet of hits: Bad Attitude, Feel it Again, What Does it Take and All Along You Knew.
Tickets for the show are available at ticketseller.ca or by calling 250-549-7469.
“Fans, if you need some great Christmas gifts for your spouse, friends, or employees, treat them to tickets and watch for the smiles,” said Richard.
