Musician from Ukraine to perform Kelowna candlelight concert

Maryna Krut will play the Bandura on Jan. 21, at the Rotary Centre for the Arts

Okanagan residents will have the opportunity to support peace overseas while being immersed in a unique cultural experience at an upcoming candlelight performance by a famous Ukrainian musician.

The Rotary Centre for the Arts is hosting Maryna Krut, a musician from Ukraine at a candlelight concert on Jan. 21.

Krut will be playing a traditional and ancient Ukrainian 65-string instrument called a Bandura while singing in both Ukrainian and English.

The performer will also speak about her experience living through the Russian invasion and ongoing war, during the show.

In addition to the candlelight concert, there will be a fundraising auction with money being allocated to buy supplies for the Ukrainian military.
