The Summerland Community Centre is hosting some upcoming entertainment evenings during the festive season.

On Friday, Dec. 15, the South Okanagan Big Band will perform. The musicians play some old-time favourites along with newer ones. Expect to hear a selection of your cherished holiday tunes — some serious, some fun or even funny — that you can sing or dance to, or if you wish, simply listen to and enjoy.

Last year, the show was sold out, as was the band’s last concert in May. Tickets are $15.

Then, on Dec. 31, Marty Edwards and the Revival are returning to the centre for a rock-your-socks-off New Year’s Eve party. The more than sold-out crowd in July cheered the group on so much that they asked to come back.

The party and music will begin at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6 p.m. A cash bar will be available.

Since “it’s midnight somewhere,” at 9 p.m. (Midnight in the Eastern time zone) participants will be celebrating the world famous New York Times Square midnight countdown.

The music and festivities will continue for a while after that with more live music, snacks, and a New York midnight light lunch. Tickets are $45 each.

The setting for both concerts will be festive with cafe-style tables. A cash bar will be available for wine and beer.

Tickets (cash only) for either or both events are available at Artisans of the Okanagan in Summerland.

To reserve tickets by e-transfer for either evening, email summerlandcommunitycentre@gmail.com with the details of your request. And you can always check the website at summerlandcommunitycentre.ca.

All ticketed events at the centre are fundraisers.
