Arts Council of the North Okanagan announces new executive director

Richard Kerton is the new executive director of the Arts Council of the North Okanagan.

The Arts Council of the North Okanagan (ACNO) has announced the selection of Richard Kerton as its new executive director.

Kerton assumes his position at the ACNO later this month.

“ We are very pleased to welcome Richard to ACNO. His breadth of knowledge and passion for the arts will have a  positive impact on our community,” said ACNO board chair Amanda Shatzko

“With the newly adopted arts and culture plan for  Greater Vernon, we look forward to strengthening our ability to serve all levels and disciplines in the arts.”

Kerton’s resumé includes many years of experience in business management in non-profit organizations as well as a long list of achievements in theatre and the arts while living in Courtenay on Vancouver Island.

He has relocated to Vernon and says he is delighted to settle in the North Okanagan and begin his work at ACNO.

“I look forward to taking up residency in Vernon and joining this  superb community organization,” said Kerton.

The Arts Council of the North Okanagan is a non-profit organization whose mission is to stimulate, encourage, support and develop the varied artistic and cultural activities in the Greater Vernon area.

Its key objectives are to heighten awareness and increase visibility of the arts as well as to enable and support all arts-based initiatives in the Greater Vernon area.

This weekend’s Culture Crawl, starting today and continuing Saturday, will give residents and visitors the opportunity to take a self-guided tour around Greater Vernon to experience local arts and culture.
