Kids’ Series goes to The Middle of Everywhere

The show that is performed in full face mask is so magical it will delight the child in you, whether you are eight or 80

The Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre Society proudly presents the WonderHeads production of The Middle of Everywhere April 17 at 2 p.m. at the Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre. The Middle of Everywhere is the final show in the society’s 2015/16 Kids’ Series.

What do you get when you mash together Pixar, Maurice Sendak and Doctor Who? A time and space-bending adventure by mask imagineers the WonderHeads, that’s what.

Winston, a man of particular particularities, is expecting nothing other than a perfectly normal day. The appearance of 11-year-old Penny at his bus stop is the first thing to upset his routine, but what he doesn’t realize is that today, Penny would be the least of his worries. The universe has conspired to send these strangers on a fantastical journey through time and space, forcing them to confront their fears head-on as they struggle to find their way home. But will they claim their place in the universe?

The Middle of Everywhere is performed in full-face mask, a form so magical it will delight the child in you, whether you’re eight or 80. Wordless and whimsical, it has been described by audiences as watching a living cartoon, or live-action Pixar.

WonderHeads is a multi-award winning physical theatre company specializing in mask performance and exquisite visual storytelling for adults and children. Mixing European larval mask traditions with character mask styles, the WonderHeads create something rarely seen on North American stages. Their three mainstage productions (Grim and Fischer, LOON and The Middle of Everywhere) have garnered multiple accolades, and they were recently selected as one of 10 finalists in Scion Motivate, a national contest that recognizes young entrepreneurs in the creative arts.

Called “a captivating, wordless journey of physical theatre,” by The Edmonton Journal, this unparalleled piece of physical theatre will transport you, along with Winston and Penny, on a fantastical journey that must be seen to be believed!
