Lake Country has live music for Canada Day and every Saturday

Those who love free outdoor concerts in the park will enjoy a number of live performances in Lake Country this Canada Day long weekend.

Those who love free outdoor concerts in the park will enjoy a number of live performances in Lake Country this Canada Day long weekend.

For its Canada Day celebrations, the district is hosting performances by Vernon blues-jazz band Kath and the TomKats from 6:30-7:30 p.m. before Sista B and the Boyz take the stage from 7:45-9 p.m. at Beasley Park on the south shore of Wood Lake.

The concerts will be followed by a big screen movie (The Jungle Book) from 9-11 p.m.

“(We are) continuing the tradition of providing evening entertainment on Canada Day after the Rotary Club pancake breakfast and fun family activities during the day,” said Ryan Donn, Lake Country cultural development coordinator.

Saturday features another free concert, with the Lake Country Big Band, with opening act country artist Michael Painchaud, who will perform from 6:40-9 p.m. at Okanagan Centre Park, 11255 Okanagan Centre Rd.

The shows are part of Live in Lake Country, a re-brand of the Lake Country Open Air Performances, which offer free public concerts in the various parks throughout the community every Saturday night during July and August.

Concert goers are encouraged to arrive early. Bring a picnic, lawn chairs and/or blankets for seating, and enjoy all the beautiful amenities the parks have to offer.  There will be food vendors on site as well as activities for children.
