The 2016 Vernon and District Heritage Fair was held last month at the Schubert Centre and was a great success, with 40 students presenting their projects depicting Canadian events and people, both past and present.

The students from Grades 4 to 7 not only put hard work into their displays, but also explained the project to judges who assessed their endeavours. As well, they participated in a variety of heritage activities such as felting, playing old-fashioned games and participating in the downtown mural tours.

All students did exceptional work and earned their place at this Heritage Fair through school fairs. Twenty nine students were then invited to participate in the Okanagan Regional Heritage Fair in Kelowna April 27 and 28.

The organizing committee for the fair would like to thank the volunteers who assisted with the presentation of the fair and the sponsors who helped make the fair happen. Sponsors include the Regional District of the North Okanagan, Davidson Pringle Lawyers, Kal Tire, Vernon Rotary Club, Alpine Centre Bookwarehouse, Canadian Federation of University Women, Vernon Teachers’ Association, SunRype and the Okanagan Historical Society.
