Winnipeg singer/songwriter Jaylene Johnson performs from her new album Potter & Clay at Vernon’s All Saints Anglican Church, Wednesday, Oct. 26.
Potter & Clay comes after several years of challenges for Johnson, including severe vocal impairment and, on a far more personal level, infertility.
Her voice was recovered through surgery in 2014 and the night before she left for a remote cabin to write exclusively for the project, she found out she was expecting. The 12 original songs reflect these experiences and Johnson’s deepened faith with warm, acoustically rich settings.
The album has received endorsements from those familiar to the genre, including Vernon worship leader/musician Jon Buller and Steve Bell, who was executive producer and a featured artist on Potter & Clay.
Doors to her performance at All Saints open at 7 p.m., and the concert starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $12 in advance at the church, 3205 27 St, Vernon, phone (250) 542-3179, or the Bean Scene. Cost is $15 admission at the door. Free admission for ages 12 and under.
