Police still searching for Coldstream senior who went missing 2 months ago

Robert Lee Baines, 83, hasn’t been seen since Jan. 2; RCMP again asking public for help finding him

A Coldstream senior has been missing for more than two months, and the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP is renewing its call for the public to help locate him following an extensive search.

Robert Lee Baines was reported missing Jan. 2. The 83-year-old was last seen by his family on Ponderosa Way in Coldstream.

“Some time has passed since Mr. Baines was reported missing and we are issuing this information again to remind the public that he has not been found,” said Const. Chris Terleski, media relations officer. “An extensive search was conducted in his neighbourhood, Kalamalka Park, and on Kalamalka Lake without any success. With spring approaching, more people will be frequenting these areas, and we’d like to remind the public to keep an eye out for anything that might help us find him.”

Police have again released a photo of Baines as well as photos of the shoes and hat that he was wearing at the time he went missing.

Baines is six feet tall and weighs approximately 221 pounds, is bald and has brown eyes.

Baines was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and may appear confused or disoriented if approached.

Kamloops and Vernon Search and Rescue teams were involved in a search for Baines in the days after he was declared missing.
