One of the drivers in a fatal 2022 crash in Vernon will be in BC Supreme Court for a pre-trial conference next month.

Michael Rodine, born in 1987, was arrested following an Aug. 5, 2022, collision near the Vernon Army Camp on Highway 97. Two grandparents who were vacationing in the Okanagan from Vancouver were killed in the crash.

Rodine is charged with two counts of criminal negligence causing death, two counts of causing death while driving with a blood alcohol concentration above the legal limit and two counts of impaired driving causing death.

Rodine, who is not in custody, was at the Vernon Law Courts Wednesday, March 6, when his pre-trial conference was set for April 15, according to Gordon Comer with the BC Prosecution Service.

In late February, Rodine elected to be tried by Supreme Court judge alone, and to have a preliminary inquiry in Provincial Court.
