Vernon’s Kal Lake Road closed after truck crash

A pickup truck crashed into a power pole in Vernon on Tuesday, March 12, temporarily closing Kalamalka Lake Road around 4 p.m.

The incident happened near the Pottery Road intersection, as traffic was closed for a block.

One occupant was in the truck, and injuries are unknown at the time. Police, fire and ambulance were all on the scene.

The crash resulted in a power outage east of Highway 97, west of Highway 6, south of Pottery Road and north of Kalamalka Road, affected 2,230 people.

Power has since been restored, and the road was cleared and reopened around 8 p.m., according to RCMP media relations officer Const. Chris Terleski.
