A fitness coach and trainer for all kinds of sports, Vernon’s Terrence Limbert’s dedication for coaching was recognized at the 2024 Community Leader Awards (CLA).

The CLA coach category was for an individual who makes a positive contribution to their sport and is exemplary in developing skills and confidence in participants along with being a role model who inspires and encourages high athletic achievement.

Limbert is the owner and coach at Forge Valley Fitness in Vernon and received his plaque at the CLA banquet at the Vernon Lodge March 13.

He started as a coach in the gym, but was able to purchase Forge Valley in 2019, working with his wife and business partner, Bonnie, to instill a true sense of community pride.

“Terrence is a coach for life,” said Kirsten Nardi, who nominated Limbert. “His focus is on the overall fitness and health of his members so that they can participate in life as fully as possible.”

The types of athletes coached and trained by Limbert is wide ranging. Members of the Silver Star downhill ski race team, competitive volleyballers, basketballers, hockey, football players and Olympic-style weightlifters have all touted his expertise.

Limbert, who is a former hockey player and elite CrossFit competitor, focuses on skill work and training specific to each athlete.

“He is an extremely positive role model and an inspiration for kids because he himself is fit, strong and healthy and can demonstrate the amazing things our bodies can do if we take the time and effort to train them right,” added Nardi.

The 2024 Community Leader Awards is a revived program started by the Vernon Morning Star, to recognize leaders in and around the community that have been working behind the scenes.

There were a number of submissions for 12 specific categories, which range from mentorship, coaching, volunteering and leadership.
